■ The beauty of red earth
 

In late autumn and early winter, the maple leaves in Auwandai have already turned red, giving a multi-layered sense of beauty. The waterfalls in Auwandai are so magnificent that they are enchanting. Walking in the maple forests, you can listen to the murmur of the stream and appreciate the mystery of nature leisurely. ■An Ethnic Tour
  Tienhou Temple of Lukang is also called “Jiouju Temple”, regarded as one of the three major Maju temples at Lukang together with “Xinju Temple” of Putou and “Xinan Temple” of Zhangxin Li. It is also regarded as one of the three major historical monuments together with Longshan Temple and Literary Ancestor Temple. From January to March each year, it is the time of Maju’s birthday, which on March 23 of the Lunar Calendar. The Tienhou Temple of Lukang holds a grand ceremony for the occasion, with thousands of worshippers coming to pay their tributes. It is regarded as the tide of incense burning. During the Lantern Festival, lanterns light up the place, with ethnic activities held in nearby areas, bringing fun and joy to the place.   
     
　
■The base of traditional art
  Chaotien Temple worships the Holy Mother in Heaven, who is also called “Granny Maju”. In the main hall, some 30 Maju statues are worshipped. In the Chaotien Temple, there are rich collections of historical documents. Further, its architecture is so uniquely designed to give artistic beauty. It is always regarded as a classroom example by the engravers and architects. Chaotien Temple is so popular as to be packed with pilgrims all year round, with incense burners from home and abroad in all seasons. Further, they also sponsor all of sorts activities during all the festivals. In the Lunar New Year, from January to March, it is the high season for pilgrims, with temple fairs, plays, arrays, Maju tour, etc. Further, there are lantern shows; they are all traditional activities that you won’t want to miss. Likewise, it is regarded as a base of traditional art.  
     
　
■A Poetic Garden
  In the Taichung Park, there are green trees, colorful flowers, as well as one hundred year old trees -- Silk Tree(合歡樹) from Java. Further, there is an outdoor music stage and children’s playground, tennis court, and other leisure facilities, etc, providing the people with a nice place to go. The antique Lake Heart Pavilion in the middle of the lake is the landmark as well as a stylish architecture of Taichung. Its red roof and snow white walls, shaped like a bamboo hat, give you a poetic feeling. On the bank of the lake, there are boat rentals, allowing people to row gently in the lake and enjoy the serenity of nature. It is a popular activity for many families in Taichung.
