Spot description–Yinghsi Gate of Jhucian

This camera is located on an outbuilding of the Yinghsi Gate of Jhucian. The picture shows the Yinghsi East Gate in the center of Hsinchu City and local residents engaging in recreation in the plaza in front of the gate.

Hsinchu was once known as "Jhucian." The Yinghsi Gate of Jhucian features a "resting mountain" roof with multiple eaves. Sitting in the midst of modern city buildings, this ancient city gate seems even more stately and elegant. It is a major spiritual landmark for today's Hsinchu residents.

You can use the city's tourist map to find your way around. You can visit historic buildings such as the railway station, Hucheng River, Beimen Street, Jhongyang Road, the City God Temple, and the Cheng Family Temple. Take your time visiting the Hsinchu Municipal Image Museum, Hsinchu Municipal Glass Museum, and the Fongcheng Urban Vision Museum. And be sure to appreciate the splendor of the Yinghsi Gate, enjoy the water by the street along the moat, and check out the bustling commercial district. The many artistic and cultural activities going on, along with traditional religious festivals and ceremonies, show the spirit and zest for life of Hsinchu residents.
