The Dongshan River crosses Taihe Village in Dongshan Township and
reaches the sea in Wujie Township. This river, which has a length of approximately
24 kilometers, represents a dazzling milestone in Taiwan's efforts to
control its rivers and streams. County residents and the government have
worked together to plan the development of the Dongshan River basin in
such a way as to combine modern and traditional Chinese sensibilities.
Thanks to well-planned facilities and superb scenery, the area has become
one of Ilan's prime tourist attractions.
Walking along the river dike is good way to relax and get close
to nature. Annual events include dragon boat races, the I-Lan
International Collegiate Invitational Regatta, the I-Lan
International Children's Folklore and Folk Game Festival, and Lover's
Day activities. This is certainly a must-see spot for visitors to Ilan
County!
