description - Taroko Visitor Center |
|
 |
 |
|
The camera is located at the Taroko
Administrative Center. The scene shows (from left to right) the front
entrance to the Taroko Visitor Center, the center's front plaza, the parking
area, and lush green mountain peaks.
|
The camera location is on the Taroko
terrace, which is near the intersection of Taiwan Route 9 (Su-hua Highway)
and Route 8 (Cross-Island Highway). This spot is the eastern entrance to
Taroko National Park, the park's management hub, and the first stop for
many visitors to Taroko. |
|
Taroko
has always been famous for its stupendous marble canyons with near-vertical
walls. The road up the valley of Liwu Stream passes by a constant parade
of breathtaking cliffs, sheer mountainsides, gorges, and waterfalls.
The terrain in Taroko
National Park mostly slopes down to the sea from the tall mountains in
the west. Roughly half of the area in the park is above 2,000 meters in
elevation, and the park contains 27 of Taiwan's 100 highest peaks.
