Spot description - Tataka Saddle in Yushan

This camera is located at the Tataka (Tatajia) Management Station of the Yushan National Park Administration. The picture shows a distant view of the majestic peaks of Yushan.

Yushan National Park provides citizens with a place for sightseeing, hiking, and other recreational activities. The park contains a trail system and visitor centers; interpretive personnel, various markers, and multimedia presentations ensure that everyone enjoys a meaningful experience.

The Tataka area gazes east to the main and subsidiary peaks of Yushan, and looks west across Shenmu Creek and Chushan to the Tashan Range. A sea of clouds often fills the valleys below at dawn or in the evening. When the Taiwan Red Maples in the surrounding mountains turn red, the spots of red in the luxuriant green forest are exceptionally beautiful. "Tataka" is derived from "Tataka" in the Tsao aboriginal language, which means a spacious, flat prairie. At 2,610 meters, Tataka is the highest point along the New Cross-Island Highway.
