Spot description - Wulai Special Scenic Area

Land of hot springs and cherry blossoms
Wulai is the only native home of the aboriginal tribes in New Taipei City. According to ancient legends, this place had once been a traditional hunting site for the Atayal tribe. Wulai in the Atayal language means steaming hot water, which refers to the hot springs. As a result, the word Wulai was adopted and has become the recognized name since. The combined appeal of hot springs and cherry blossoms draw countless nature-loving visitors every January and February. They come here to be cleansed of the hustle and bustle of the city life and renew their senses and connection with nature.
